By car or self-drive

This is the most popular option for many visitors. Getting around with car gives you flexibility and ease of visiting the local attractions. Cameron Highlands is connected by 4 trunk roads:

1. From South via Tapah. Cameron Highlands is about 300kms from Kuala Lumpur. If you are driving by car from Kuala Lumpur to Tapah just following the signs to Ipoh and it takes about 3 hours. Keep on driving north for about 1.5 hours until you reach Tapah. Take Exit 132 and you will be at the Tapah toll booth. To reach the highlands, take the Tapah toll exit and turn left at the traffic lights, this road leads up for 47km before reaching Ringlet, the Cameron Highlands first town. It is a further 12km to Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands main town.

2. From north via Simpang Pulai. Road from Simpang Pulai, the road condition is much better here than the Tapah route and it only takes about 45 minutes to get to Kampung Raja from Simpang Pulai. Take Exit 137 (Simpang Pulai) and turn right at the traffic light right after the toll booth. Turn right again at the next traffic light about 200 metres away. You are now on the way to Cameron Highlands. After about 1 hour, you will reach the Kampung Raja junction where you will have to turn right from the new road into Kampung Raja town. You're now in Cameron Highlands and you can just follow the main road to your destination. Brinchang & Tanah Rata is about 25-30kms from here.

       3. From east coast via Gua Musang. Road from Gua Musang to Cameron Highlands is about 120 km., only takes about 45 minutes to get to Kampung Raja from Gua Musangi. you will reach the Kampung Raja junction where you will have to turn left from the new road into Kampung Raja town. You're now in Cameron Highlands and you can just follow the main road to your destination. Brinchang & Tanah Rata is about 25-30kms from here.

4. From Raub, Pahang. - Road from Bentong (Raub) to Cameron Highlands is about 170 km, takes about 3 hours to reach Cameron Highlands, Bertam Vally. Tol Gombak - Genting Sempah - Bentong - Raub - Sg Koyan - Pos Betau - Ringlet(Cameron Highlands). You will reach the Bertam Valley junction where you will have to turn left from the new road into Ringlet town and turn right from the new road into Bertam Valley town. You're now in Cameron Highlands and you can just follow the main road to your destination. Brinchang & Tanah Rata is about 17-28kms from here.
